I had a Green Machine. Locking brakes on each wheel, and a pivot in the center. High speed into a power slide was soooo easy.

Now I drift highway on-ramps. I love the feel of having my car break cleanly at all 4 wheels. I would love a older 911, just so I could let the *** hang out!

Current version, my kids keep wearing out the rear wheels on their scooters. It's an irresistable force of nature...the need...to...DRIFT!!!

I don't know about you all.. but I could drift my BMX bike down a hill with the rear brake locked up for like 200yards.

My parents got so pissed cuz they were always buying new rubber for it.

Hella fun... this has developed into a cool topic! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Ah the Big Wheel. I would always wear a hole in the main wheel. Talk about slicks on the rear wheels. That little trike reminded me of how much fun I used to have sliding around all day. Now I have fun doing it in a Porsche. And also drifting it as well. ha ha

Anybody out there remember the X-15? A front-wheel pedal machine with a joy stick to steer and articulating rear-wheels? A classic 'trike' for kids that ripped and drifted nicely!

Danno,

Never heard of an X-15, but it sounds similar to a Green Machine which had a wide-*** rear track controlled by two toggle/joysticks(sort of like driving a tank). The weird thing is, like water 944T--I had one of those, and a 79 924, and now a white 86 951---strange coincidences <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" />

I will add another childhood "drifting story"...

(This will only be for those of you that live in the snowy area of the world).

(Let's start the story).....

Remember when.. (said in a high pitched voice, because it is both impossible to back up in a car without making the "back-up" face AND it's impossible to say "Remember when" without the voice going up 3 octaves) we used to go "sledding" or "toboggoning" (like I spelled that right)???

Well, the good ol' long sled with the front that curled up (sled that was basically a "J" with a long back) was pretty cool for drifting - but the control was lacking......then they came out with those Crazy Carpets, which were great for drifting - but as safe as driving a broom on the Autobahn. But then came the ultimate drifing machine.....those (usually green) plastic "sit down" sleds that had two hand brakes. Not the GT style sit-on motorbike thing - but a full seat with back was on these sumbyatches. They RULED!!

Nothing like going down an icy field at top speed and pulling one of those hand brakes, cutting you into an aggressive drift, only to pull the other brake - thus swinging you back around into a reverse drift - I'm going out and buying another one right now!! Please tell me someone remembers these!

Drifting, huh? I have a ton of drifting videos, but these are two that I have uploaded to my website. If anybody is interested in seeing more, let me know. I also have almost all of the first 2 seasons of initial D (japanese drift racing CGI anime thing).

Here's an AE86 corolla drifting with an altezza (IS300 for americans)
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/AE86vsAltezzaB.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/AE86vsAltezzaB.mpeg</a>

Here's a monster supra doing a crazy drift on a track:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/junsupra_short.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/junsupra_short.mpeg</a>

Here's get away in stockholm 1 (its 107 MB, so modem users might want to skip it)

Here's get away in stockholm 2 (its 235 MB, so modem users might want to skip it)
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/GIS2-Xstreem.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/GIS2-Xstreem.mpeg</a>

Here's a nissan skyline doing a 205 MPH flybye in a tunnel:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/205mph.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/205mph.mpeg</a>

Here's the infamous 944 turbo S eats stuff for lunch video:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/944_commercial.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/944_commercial.mpeg</a>

Here's a 944 turbo drag racing a 3000GTVR4 on some street (it caused quite the controversy a year and a half or so ago):
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/944vsVR4.mpg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/944vsVR4.mpg</a>

Here's a 993 TT running a 1/4 mile at a drag strip (listen to the sounds it makes...awesome):
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/993TT_strip[1].mpg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/993TT_strip[1].mpg</a>

Here is an insane F1 crash...you are probably watching 30 million or so dollars worth of equipment destroyed in a few seconds:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/GiantF1Crash.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/GiantF1Crash.mpeg</a>

I forgot what this one is...it might be a 911 in a wet race hitting another car backwards at high speed:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/GT1crash[2].mpg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/GT1crash[2].mpg</a>

I think this is a 951 that catches fire and spins off the track:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/laguna.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/laguna.mpeg</a>

This is a 328is trying to keep up with a 951 on some curvy roads:

This is one of the coolest reviews of a car I have ever seen (its a McLaren F1):

<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/supra_turbo.mpeg" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/supra_turbo.mpeg</a>

Here is a bad quality video of the veilside supra drag racing a mclaren F1:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/supra_vs_mclaren_f1.avi" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/supra_vs_mclaren_f1.avi</a>

Here are two 951's on a track...one crashes I think:
<a href="http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/two951.avi" target="_blank">http://ribs.americainteractive.com/videos/carvideos/two951.avi</a>

Hope you enjoyed...thats most of my 944 related video I have on my computer (I haven't put danno's videos up on my website yet...probably should get his permission or something) and a couple others that I think are nifty.
