Post Battery Corrosion Fix...

Well, I needed a new battery today. My one year old, BIG Interstate had a bad cell and was leaking. I caught it in time -- very little mess to clean up. The shop gave me a new one (free), slightly smaller this time, and this one had a vent hole on the top. We ran Interstate's vent kit (rubber tube and plastic extension) and a yard of vacuum tubing, from the vent hole on the top of the battery, through an open terminal on the big rubber firewall plug right in front of the battery, and down the fender hole next to the fuel lines. Under the car, we cut the vacuum tube so it sticks out about an inch under the car. If the battery ever discharges acid, the acid will exit the bottom of the car and not corrode the battery box. Really easy to do, and the vent kit is free with an Interstate battery. Porsche should have done this in the first place!
