OK...so I got to drive it for about an hour and 1/2 in traffic today. Wow...that is really all I can say. It feels like an entirely different machine. It actually reminds me of when Airflight took for me for a ride in his S2. There was a time where I punched it in 2nd gear and the back of my head literally hit off the seat...it jumps. I actually laughed out loud. My tires nearly broke loose when I gassed it around a corner also...It never came close to that before. I would even say that my car qualifies as "fast" now...not quick/nimble. I like it better than the turbo I test drove...there's no lull.

Sorry if I sound excited but I was not expecting this drastic of a change. I was kinda resigned to having a very expensive, underwhelming car. I was planning on buying a S2/968 but I think I'm going to hold off for now.

I have the race chip/7000 rpm running on 93 octane. It overrides your O2 sensor also....so I have a brand new one ($125...oh well) thats not going to be installed. My old chip is headed for the trash..

^^

You need a late DME and AFM to chip an early car...

BlackOp,

Which chip did you get? It seems there are three different ones listed for late NA's.

There is an adapter board on Wilk's site for the early cars that lets you switch between stock and chip. $325 though.

That looks like a really slick setup! do you know of anyone running it?

It's not cheap though...

I'm curious about the S2 chip as well. The site says they have a chip but there's no info.

The cheapest MAF conversion ever sold by a reputable business was the promax one and it was over $700 if I remember right, and it did not include a fully laptop programable DME chip. Plus look at other MAF conversions, they are all over $1000

It's a bargain if you ask me

I had one in an '89 S2 which simply made the car much more eager to accelerate especially when running high octane 91/93 gasoline. I doubt it provided any major improvement in power but the car felt more linear as if the powerband was widened and improved.
