Default 944 Turbo alternator

I'm having a low voltage charging problem. The alternator is only putting out about 12.5 -13.0 volts, basically enough to keep the battery charged. My question is whether it makes more sense to replace the entire alternator with a rebuilt Bosch or simply change out the voltage regulator. With 140, 000 miles on the car I'm leaning towards the rebuilt alternator. Would it come with a new voltage regulator?

yes, rebuilt comes ready to go. but a new voltage regulator might not solve your problem

That's what I'm thinking. A refurbished alternator is only an extra $125. How hard is it to change out on a Turbo?
