Post Plug Wires

Need to get some. Found some locally ($189) anyone know where I can get some in the NH area cheaper?

I got some Jacob Wires a year ago for either $40 or $50 from I think vertex. I was happy with them, you just have to re-use the boots.

Thanks, but I was hoping for the whole set. Have to make a run down to Mass tonight and I don't have time to lean how to crimp them. . Plus I think (Hope) I have a bad boot anyways.

One Lady said they had the set for $22

Um yeah, that's the bare wires. She couldn't understand why there was such a variation between $22 and $210.

To be honest with you I cant understand the price either. I'm sure they are quality wires and all, but almost $200 is a little steep in my opinion. Oh well the joys of Porsche ownership.

You don't have to crimp anything. The wires are ready to go, you just have to slide the old boots off then slide the new ones on. But I guess if your one boot is shot then it won't help.

Yeah, that's the problem wire comes out without the little bit on the end. It's been stumbling ever since I changed the plugs. Don't think it's the gapping and I'm afraid to take out the #4 plug since the threads are semi stripped. Don't really want to spend $189 but the car starts poorly in the rain so I figured....

Started real badly this morning, cold, don't know if that's normal or not.

Mine does that, but mine is a POS so I wouldn't use mine as a benchmark.

Think the magnecor is sans boots too, but they did have the full things for about $100. Wish I had the time to wait. Where I'm going is a real bad part of town, and I can't be late so I can't take the chance.

Hey Sid (we met at "the Gathering")

I have 2 sets of used wires you can use. One OEM, and one Jacobs. The Jacobs have boots (but not the factory-style Beru). If they work, keep them and we'll discuss price. If not, you can give them back. I'm down in Medford MA.

Sound good? Let me know....PM is fine

Ken preciate it. Need them sooner than I can get to Mefa. However I would like a spare set. How much you want for the OEM (Why do I feel this desire to stick with OEM I'm sure I could get some everyday type plugs to work. Never like that before. Must come with the price of Porsche ownership)

I'l send you a check when I mail one to Ima951 for the sunroof.

No problem. The OEM set is in perfect condition. Let's say $40.

You can email me off-line at verve3@hotmail.com

Well just got the wires, and they may have been the trick. Car ran much better on the way home.

Unfortunately it may have been an inadvertant result of me fiddling with the wires to the coil. Seems the PO had done a little of his electrical work here. He was really good on the mechanical stuff, but his electrical work was just crap. If it does turn out it was that Im going over to his house and pee on his honda's

I think I now know why the wires are so exspensive though. They use super special extra grippy rubber boots. I practically had both feet on the bumper to get one off the dist. Felt a little better. Guys at the parts store said some of the new BMW wires are $700 a set.

Ack. To late, but thanks anyways, maybe it will help someone else.

On the way home pulling out of the toll both decided to test the new wires. Came this close | | To nailing a fox who decided to run in front of me. Missed him thankfully.
