CV removal: STUCK cheeseheads
#16
The new CV was 30 ft lbs and they came right out. I used blue loctite.
The ones installed in 1986 by angry Germans required a bit more torque. They sounded like they were scraping, as if the threads were dry. The grease that was on the CV boot appears to have come from inside the CV joint and leaked all the way out from the back. That must've taken a while, or a lot of runs down the back straight at the glen.
How much play in the CV is too much? guess I can compare the two since the passenger side is brandee newdee.
I now have the drivers side swing arm off the car. I need a nap.
