Post Pro's & cons of chipping a na 944?

Hey guys! I have recently bought a 86 na 944 and am wondering if its worth the expense to "chip" the car? Is the added HP mostly from advancing the timing & using higher octane fuel? Have any gains been dynoed? Any pro's & cons on the subject are great! Thanks much!

wow, that was low...but funny none the less.

i have heard that the gains are minimal. i am still trying to decide if chipping my s will give me a little more low end grunt.

Having chipped my 1987-944S I can tell you it does not help the low end but does help up top, seems to pull harder from about 3500 or so.I used a Autothority chip.

I use the Blaszak chip and it's about the same. Nothing too dramatic but where else can you get 6-7HP for $160?

Thanks guys! Squirel: Its great! I needed to get away from having huge amounts of Boost/RUSH! The police didn't seem to understand my need for speed! Heck, even the mileage is great 27ish MPG!
