Default 944 Spotted on fire on I-405 North, out of LA (photo)

Hi guys,

I've just been in the US for the last few weeks, and on Saturday 25th September whilst travelling on the I-405 North, heading out of LA, the cars ahead were all moving across to the far right lane of the freeway. When i got closer i saw why.

A 944 was on fire in the fast lane. Unfortunately it looks like the fire which was coming from the engine bay, had pretty much taken hold, so i'm guessing it was fairly terminal in its nature.

My condolences if this was anyone who is a member here.

Early 944 book value just went up. Vulcanized fuel line is my vote.

Another victim of environmentalist short-sightedness... mandated oxygenated fuels leads to disintegrating fuel lines, resulting in an exponential increase in vehicle fires and ground water pollution. Then, they blamed it on the oil companies.
My condolences to the owner.

That and adding an alcohol to a mix of long chain hydrocarbons = nastiest organic acids known to man = metal alloy destruction.
