Good info, thanks. I've been putting this off but this setup looks pretty good. What is your ceiling height and do you have any issues with clearance e.g. at full lift, can you walk under the car? Bruce

You can't walk under the car - the lift only gets it up 4' total at the top height. I think my garage is 9' - standard height. As I mentioned, you have to make sure you get it setup between the garage track and the opener - otherwise you might be screwed. If we would have centered it, you can clearly see on the first picture that it would have hit the opener. Luckily I thought of that in advance.

It's pretty damn sturdy. BTW, the torque is 100 ft/lb's. So, as long as you can hold that on all the bolts you're good - you don't want any bolts spinning or not torquing up enough. I set mine up so I could leave one post up all the time - cuts the setup time in half.

I went to Sears and bought one of those short roller chairs with a tray built in - I haven't gotten under there yet with it, but it feels like it's going to be perfect.

The cool thing is - even if you don't want to go full height - it's still WAY better to just get the car up on the first safety bar, which is 2' up, for really anything - and that's going to be way better (and a helluva lot easier/faster) than putting it up on jacks.
