Post Cabin temp sensor probe???????

While I had the glove box out, I found this had come loose and was hanging. I reattached but am curious; how does this really work and does it (really work). What will happen if I try to run the AC without it?

Just trying to learn stuff....stay

TIA,
Daniel

I'll take a stab at it. I have the sensors right, but am not sure if the A/C gets added to/measured with the outside air or the heater output. I suspect the outside air.

The inside temperature sensor measure the temperature inside the cabin and tells your climate control computer. Other sensors measure the output air of your heater (output sensor) and outside air (A/C output?) (outside temperature sensor). You set the desired temperature using the climate control dial, then the computer operates the mixing flap to mix heater/AC output air and outside air to try and achieve the cabin temperature you have set.

If you try to operate your climate control system without this sensor, it will probably default to full hot. Your A/C can then fight your heater, and may the best climate controller win! (Definitely heater on a 951!)

Does it work? I must say that my climate control system does a good job of maintaining the correct temperature using only the heater and outside air. With summer coming up I need to get the A/C working! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
