I'm going to change the head gasket om my 1980 924, is there a good guide somewhere ?

I would try the VW forums honestly. They might have more information avalible about the motor. Also 924.org (I think) might have some good information.

924board.org has some great information on it

if you're building the engine contact ideola on 924board.org and get yourself some arp bolts, reusable, strong, and good quality. just picked some up not long ago for my 2.0 for my rebuild. those stretchables are really only good once or twice around and even then i'd question them.
