Thanks for posting your progress, has been an interesting read! Is the car back on the road yet?

Sorry for the lack of responses. In the middle of all of this I had been planning our wedding and we had our wedding on the 30th of october. So it was BUSY BUSY BUSY.

As of last night I got the transmission back in the car and the torque tube back in the car and aligned. The slave cyl is back in and the exhaust is hooked up and ready to go. Brake lines are attached. All I literally need to do is bleed the brakes and hook up the starter and put in the reference and speed sensor and go have some fun.

Congrats on the wedding!

Cover the TDC hole on the BH before you try to get the speed/ref sensor bolts started... cause **** happens! I finished my clutch last week, here's what I did -- and sure enough I dropped one of the speed/ref bolts right onto it!

back on the road and OH MY GOD the difference is INTENSE!

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT !

The italian clutch does chatter a bit more than the original disc did when you first let it out but i think that may be partially due to breaking it in. either way I don't mind it.

Believe it or not I can't tell any vibration or sound differences... except that I don't have a billion bearing rattling. MUCH smoother. The crazy slipping and jerking is gone. Doesn't sound like wailing death.

Everything is smooth as can be and I am one happy camper.

Yes congrats on your wedding! I think your first clutch change on one of these cars is quite an accomplishment. Back in 89 (I sound like a geezer eh?), after doing my first clutch I brought the car into a local Porsche garage for tech inspection (driver's ed), the mechanics didn't believe me when I said I had just replaced the clutch. They said they sometimes ended up with cars from other non-P repair shops where it was F-ed up so bad (by the shop) the shop paid these guys to fix it. They really were impressed.

Thanks guys! I took lots of pictures so if anyone needs any let me know. Was quite an adventure. For the first time in a month my days off can be spent ENJOYING cars again!

I'm gonna detail the **** out of it and then detail the 914 and then enjoy.
