Tough one to answer without more info. First thing is to make SURE all maint is up to date, a belt failure alone would cost more than your budget.

We're going to need more info on the condition of the car, your level of DIY skills & tools & place to work, and what you want to do with the car before we can give you any meaningful answers.

As Dave mentioned, the timing & balance shaft belts are a _MUST_ item. This is not a 'maybe' item... When were they last done, both in time and miles? If it's an 'S' model, there's also the question of the inter-cam chain & tensioner; also a 'must' item, if worn or doubtful.

For example, $2K will about cover having a good shop do the belts, water pump, & chain tensioner, and maybe leave enough for you to do the struts, shocks, brake pads, and tires... and maybe a burger, small fries, & Coke...

But welcome. It's a great car, and DIY'ing some of it will be a great education, both in automotive technology & life's little lessons.
