Default Connectors at DME Passenger Footwell

According to Todd's wire changes for the 944/968 engine swap:

Connector DME Passenger Footwell
"14 pin for 968 (smaller is tiptronic connector), 4 pin for 944 and 8 pin for 944 S"

I took a look under there on my 1987 944 2.5 and I saw the large connector that goes into the DME, a small two pin connector that has been jumped (assuming this is the alarm bypass), an 8 pin connector, and a 4 pin connector that isn't plugged into anything. Which connector am I looking for to do the wire changes? I'm confused because I see an 8 pin and a 4 pin connector. I was only expecting to see the 4 pin.

Here is a picture. This is on a running car and everything is functional

I was just reading that the 8 pin connector might be for the factory alarm. Now my question is why that that 4 pin connector is unplugged?
