Post Does Tweeks know Porsche?

I was looking through their catalog last night and noticed that they claim that a 7.5" wide wheel will fit the front of an 87' 924S and a 9.5" wide wheel will fit the rear of the car as well. Is this correct or are they flat wrong? I have been told by everyon that 7" and 8" are about the max for this car in stock form. If the 7.5 will fit the front what size tire for 17" wheel. Also, if 9" will fit the rear ...what size tire? What would these offset have to be to assure that I won't rub?

Thanks,

Jason

Tweeks is F-ed in the head, but not about that. I have put 8 inch wide wheels with 225/50 16 tires on the front of my 88 and they fit OK. I did this just to see who well they would fit though I really didn't drive the snot out of it to see where they would rub in hard corners.

Where Tweeks is really screwed up is where they indicate what offset fits what model and year. They indicate the 924S uses early offset wheels, which is incorrect in all instances. The have some of the 944 model years screwed up too if I remember correctly.

Oh, and their prices seem really high compared to others - like Zims or Paragon.

And the few times I have ordered from them, they screwed up the orders or put stuff on permanent back order and never follow up with you on the status.

They do claim to have the hard to find 924S decal though, so I may have to suffer them one more time.

They don't have it! I am having ten of them made at a local shop right now. I will see how they turn out. I am planning on helping out fellow listers for what they cost me to have them made. I will let you know in a week when I get them how they turned out.

Manning,

Also, what offsets do you recommend for the wheels front and rear?

Thanks

Excellent, put me down for a couple of the decals. I have actually been thinking about having this done, maybe even have both decals (924S and the Porsche logo) die-cut in 3M reflective media.

Regarding offset, I am currently using (16 inch) Design 90s in 6 and 8 inch widths with 52.3 offset and they seem to fit really well. Can't really say what 17s will look like, but I image the offset will need to be roughly the same as with 15s or 16s.
