Question Motor Mounts to blame??

I am getting a vibration that rattles the driver's window when I put the car into gear and take off. Idle is kinda rough too, even after my tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor). The engine sounds great at speed, but I am guessing the roughness is being caused by engine mount(s) that are shot. They are the originals...My mechanic said they were fine a few months back...but I hear they should be replaced at least every 36k miles.

Should I bring her in??

I love Ninjas Sooo much...

90K miles on the original? I'd definately measure those badboys.

The main symptom is vibration at idle, as RPMs increase, the vibration goes away. Check the passanger side first - heat and leaking power steering fluid affect the integratity of the motor mount. In my case, passanger side was shot, driver's was fine. I bought two new ones from Pelican Parts - an aftermarket set that does not have hydrolics inside. They are a little stiffer, but not by much, definitely livable for half the price.

Thanks.

Spoke with my mechanic...he says he remembers seeing that they were original mounts, so if I am getting the tell-tale signs, I should replace em.

He said he will put in the Turbo mounts, for $550. Is that on the high side, or about right for Porsche parts plus labor??

Seems every other repair is a $500 affair! Welcome to the club, I know, I know.
Shhhh...don't tell the wife!

I just, this morning in fact, picked up my car from my wrench after having both mounts and cam/balnce belts all for $650.
The mount job for a Turbo is more time consuming as well.
I would say a bit high.
The mounts are $55-100 each depending on which ones and it should be a 3-4 hour job for a NA.
When I had them done on my old NA I think it ran $350 or so.

Well, doing the math, a 4 hour job @ $75 per hour = $300, plus $250 for the turbo mounts = $550
