Post Looking for a 968 Cabriolet

Hi! A friend of mine is looking for a 968 cabriolet - preferably in Canada but is willing to look stateside. Acceptable exterior colors are black, white and polar silver. Prefer Black, grey or tan interior. Must have 6 speed - no tiptronic. Car must be in great condition with all records. I already know about the white one for sale in Calgary - mauve interior...too bad. Can you guys help out?

Thanks!

There's one down here in DC-area at HBL Porsche of Tysons Corner. I looked at it, and it looks in great shape, black and tan, '95, 24K miles, but they want $30K for it.

I asked the guy what his cheapest Boxster on the lot was and he said $30K, so I asked hime why would I buy a 95 968 when I could get the 98 Boxster for the same price. He didn't seem too interested in playing a price game.

HBL needs to take another hit from their crack pipe. $30k for a 95 968 Cab (even with only 24k miles) is a bit much. The same car would have sold for ~ $33-34K in 1997. I know because I was looking at one being sold be Brumos Porsche. In 97 they were asking and got by the way, $38.5K for a 95 triple black Cab w/M030, LSD the works with 15k miles. That's when the car was only two years old. $30k for a 7 year old 968 Cab is a bit much. Regardless of the mileage, if that car hasn't been garaged its entire life the top is going to need to be replaced. The canvas can look fine and out of no where it will rip.

Check out ebay, DuPont Regsitry, etc...

Good luck,
Max

I dunno if it's still there, but there was a white 92 (or 93) cab 968 in Victoria at Three Point Motors Mercedes a week or two ago. It's in A-1 shape with low kms, but I think they want (or wanted) major bucks for it (ie: in the high thirties Canadian). Give them a call and see if they still have it, as it was on their lot for a while. As I said, the condition was very very good, as far as I could tell.

On that note I would like a 95 968 coupe, m030, LSD, the works, with an SFR level 4 supercharger, tec III engine management, an unlimited tire supply, unlimited track time, the worlds best radar detector for the drive home, with 12 miles on it. Oh yeah, and I was hoping for this for about $3,000. Can anyone help me out?

SoloRacer, as much help as this board can be its probably best to find your own car. I would never post vehicles I am even looking at one here for fear of being snaked, not by one of the posters, but by one of the lurkers. Porsche Classifieds Digest is a good place to start. Good luck.

Jeff
