hood lever / latch broken
#16
I already ordered a replacement housing, but I thought I'd try using the one I glued anyway.... broke instantly <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
Oh well, new one should arrive soon.
You're right on the amount of force required, I sprayed a bunch of lube on the hood release under the hood, but its still takes a lot of work to get it open.

Might think about disconnecting the cable from the hood release latch and see if the cable moves freely. If it still binds you have a "kink" in your cable or it is rusted internally. If it moves freely, look at the latch release assembly for a problem.
If it is that hard to move, it will just break again. I have to pull firmly to release the one I have, but it doesn't feel like it is going to break the latch.

Shouldn't be a problem. Find a hollow tube to set the handle on so the pin is in the center of the tube. Find a nail that is slightly smaller in diameter then the pin and drive the pin out with the nail and a small hammer.
