Question Fitting on the PS fluid seal.

I'm putting in a seal for my Power Steering fluid reservoir, the old one is missing, and it overflows if there's much more than half an inch of fluid. But there's no groove for it to fit in, I can't tell where it's supposed to go. Just at the end of the threads??? TIA

The old o-ring might still be on there. When I replaced mine, the old one was kind of hidden and appeared to be missing. I actually drove some with the old and the new o-ring on and it leaked. Pry around with a little screw driver at the base of the threads and it should come off.
