Frig...I'm rusty!
do you guys know how hard it is to take out the cluster? do I need to remove the whole cluster, or do gauges come out 1 by 1? or?

wouldn't mind, possibly, doing this

here's more feedback:

drove car on a 20 mile each way route today

added some Water Wetter

car operated at a 3rd mark, when it moved to the "hot" zone, fans kicked on and cooled it down

car NEVER boiled over, NEVER smoked, no nothing, didn't even get "hot" ... so my guess is that maybe my gauge isn't good

right now, we are waiting for Tuesday when my low-temp goodies will come in, at that point we'll swap low-temp stuff in, and change the coolant/antifreeze again ... or maybe we'll re-use stuff we already have in the car (since it obviously works)

probably still have some air in the cooling system too, but at this point, not that big of a deal ... probably won't drive the car again until low-temp stuff comes in!

Hi MichaelK, the dancing gauges are usually in correlation to grounding issues that are very common on 944s. Upgrade the major grounds on your car with 1 gauge or 00 gauge and the dancing will reduce considerably. Your temp gauge (only IF it is a Series 1 car) is connected to pin 4 behind the tachometer. Check the ground behind the cluster and upgrade that one also if possible. It will make a world of difference.

Roman, IDK if there was or not but I measured up the distances the cables had to travel and custom built the ground lines using 1 gauge wiring. It isn't the easiest thing accessing some of the spots, but when the gauges start working correctly, that more than makes up for it IMO.
