... any resident experts out there that could tell me what transaxle was used in the Carrera GT, GTS, or GTRs?

I am assuming it was the Porsche/Getrag "snailshell" transaxle, most likely with some modifications?

Any ideas about the gear setups?

It was a derivation of the snailshell trans used in the '80 931, with a larger diff housing and diff (big surprise). Gear sets varied depending on track, of course. No, sorry, don't have any of those setup notes. However, the guts of that trans were to a great deal based on the Getrag trannies like the 901 and 915 trannies.

Anyhoo, I'm trying to find out if the Getrag will take 250-300HP without modification, or what sort of mods are necessary for it's survival at this HP range.

Also, I've heard that 915 gearsets can be interchanged with this box? If so, that would be a bonus...

Won't the 951 trans take that kind of power?

Some 915 gearsets _may_ interchange. You might wish to talk to Powerhaus or Paul Guard or the like to clarify what the options and limitations are.
