Cigarette light socket won't stay in
Basically I took this thing out to replace my clock and now I can't get it to stay in. Maybe I just don't know how its supposed to go in, but I have tried a few different ways and I can't get it to stay. If I plug something in the whole socket will come with it when I try to unplug it. Any ideas?

If you don't have the retaining ring on the back it will come out. You can put some wire around the plastic fingers in back and twist it tight so the socket doesn't come out.

I read someplace where a guy wanted to use his phone charger and the Porsche lighter socket was too big. He bought an el cheapo lighter from wally world and built the outside of it up with aluminum tape to fit the inside receptacle, said it works good now. I would guess he cut the vent holes out and trimmed the tape on the back side. Might be worth a try I guess.

My Garmen charger will not stay in the cigarette lighter socket. If it falls out as I am driving the Garmen shuts down and says there was an interruption in power. It is an annoyance.
I drive as long as I can on the battery life.

I have the same charger and same problem. Cured by placing a wooden matchstick in the holder before inserting the charger plug.
