Post Heater problem

When I use my heater, I only get fan on position 4. nothing happens on 1,2 or 3!. Has anyone had this problem before? I can't imagine it's a fuse, as surely then pos. 4 wouldn't work either??

Thanks.

Do a search on this subject; it has been covered several times recently. Basically, switch position 4 grounds the blower motor straight to the chassis and the fan runs at full speed. Positions 1, 2 and 3 ground it through a series of resistors (ballast resistor) that slow the speed of the blower motor.

Problems are either the switch contact, wiring or ballast resistor. Apparently the switch contacts can be cleaned and/or sanded resulting in a permanent or temporary cure.

On the back of your fan switch, the brown/red wire goes to ground. Try jumping it to the brown/white wire (speed 1), the white/yellow wire (2) or the white wire (3). If your fan works on these speeds, the problem is the switch. If not, the problem is the ballast resistor and/or wiring from the switch to the ballast resistor. No, I don't know where this is located, try tracing the white wires.
