Post Vacuum lines: I wanna do 'em. Now what?

I've checked out a few places for vacuum lines and I can never find them. Sometimes they're in fuel injection, sometimes exhaust...How much will it cost to replace all of these suckers? I'm pretty sure it's the problem with my idle and it's probably not a bad idea anyway. Do the big hoses leal pretty easily too, or just the plastic guys?

I found one place that sold a kit, but they didn't have prices listed. I emailed the guy and he sent me back some pictures and no prices...

Also, who was it that fixed their nipple on the brake booster? Hm, maybe I should do that first, mine's barely in there. How do these hoses attach to each other? Krazy glue? There's not much of a writeup on the web...

I'm looking for the same kit. I'm tired of replacing one here and one there. I'd hate to buy each part separatly. I've also seen a few kits but no prices. Maybe I'll have to trade for my first born.....

Is it a 944 specific kit?

You should go to Napa and get some vac lines they come in feet and the connect great. As far as I know no leaks yet but I haven't done them all yet just the two that were leaking.

I replaced all the thin hard lines with hose from autozone. It's the skinniest stuff they carry, 1/8" I believe. They've also got packages of plastic Ts. I just bought about 6 feet of hose, layed out the old ones and made new ones to the exact size. They've worked great so far, and cost me maybe $5.

$5 sounds like my ticket. What about all of those odd rubber connectors? What about the real thick hoses? Are they likely to be leaking as well or is the real problem child just the skinny tubes?

I thought the vacuum system was relatively sensative to diameter, wall strength, etc. Is there a FAQ somewhere on how the a vacuum system works?? I'm boggled.

Hosetechniques.com Get 20' of 3.5mm silicone tubing. Head to Napa and get a handful of vacuum T's and Y's and make your own.

$40 tops.

I have the Lindsey set. Nice brass T's. Dave seems like a nice guy to talk to. He put up with my idiot questions.

I just got the lindsey set. Perfect for the smaller lines. As for the rest, talk to www.944racing.com . They'll help you out with the larger lines.

I did a post a while ago about fixing the nipple on the brake booster- do a search here and in the archives- If you cant find it- let me know and i'll repost the fix.
I started with the 1/8" lines and worked my way up in diameter. I still have more to go- but it was the little guys causing the most problems, i.e. vacuum leaks, idle studder, idle racing and dropping, etc.

Actually, yeah, I saw that nipple fix...I'm gonna look into that. My brake booster definately has a broken nipple and a crappy fix.

I'll check out some of that stuff for the small lines and see where it gets me. If my brakes work and she idles fine, I'm good to go. Thanks guys.
