Default New guy with a question

My just started driving my 944 again after changing the thermostat, and its now making grinding? sound. It seems to come and go at its own pleasure, and more when accelerating. Here is a crappy video I took from my phone.
Thanks in advance

Can you isolate it more?
It kind of sounds like water pump area to me especially if you just worked in that area. Did you install the thermostat upside down or leave something in it? Try using a long extension to isolate it more. Place one end of the extension on a bone by your ear and the other on different parts of the motor where you think the sound is comming from. You will be surprised how well it works. Becarful of moving parts. Good Luck.

It sounds like its coming from the rear of the engine. I used the extension method and could not pin point were it was coming from, but it was not the water pump

got the sound sorted out, went under the car to check on the heat shield and saw that my starter bolts had back out some and the starter itself was loose
