Anders.... me too!!
Louis, I have new chip guards in the stock locations, but not on the mirrors. They are easy to strip and repaint if they get chipped to hell.

I meant the "whole shebang" invisible bra solution like "Armor fend" they advertise in Pano and Excellence. They're transparent pieces of 3M material cut to fit the nose panel, headlight covers, front valance, mirrors, etc.
Apparently, this stuff is used on lear jets and is highly resistant to stone impact and road debris. You have to look closely at a car to notice it has the film pieces on it. It's also removable if you ever decide to take it off and seems like a really clean solution. I would love to put it my car if I had a new paint job. The kit costs around $300, though and I don't think it's as appropriate when the paint isn't new.

I have the same 3M material for my chip guards. It is very much transparent, and would work great on the mirrors, but like the stock stuff, it will yellow and get nasty over time. My mirrors were not too bad with the factory paint.
My air splitter... that may be a different story!
More pics later on this week. Maybe a frontal shot. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

LOL! Thanks Pete! You need to let me blend in that area where your pin stripe was. I can knock down that edge. Perhaps I'll bring my buffer and some paper to the Fest. Little on site repair.

Looks GREAT Brian!! Between you and ELLSSUU I am about to rush my repaint,,but I am going to hold off until this fall. I have black Imron 99u/L041 to go back with,, I even have some clear that will go over it if I want....but would you elaborate on the Spies Hecker; cost, mix ratio, etc. when you have time? Got a new DeVilbiss Millenium HVLP gravity gun, get all the wx stipping, seals, felt,,,

I used to spray Imron, great stuff! Too bad they outlawed the clear because of Cyanide!
This was the 1st time I used the Spies Hecker. It is hard to find, but worth it. The 2K system is a a single stage paint. Depending on application, you can get it in enamel or in urethane. It is somewhat thick paint, 1:4 ratio IIRC. I used a HVLP gun as well (1st time). I shot it thick, 5 coats. I probably blocked off 2 coats, so it is about the right thickness now.
For the new parts, I used Rubber Seal light primer. This is the best primer I have ever used, and that comes from someone who has shot 20+ cars.
Nothing special on application. Just prep it good, and put a lot of work into wet sanding and buffing it out.
Shine is very good, depth is as good as a 2 stage, and the color is very deep!
