Red face Cat-Back for my '88 N/A?

Sorry if this has been done already, but....

Since Borla doesn't make a cat-back for the 944 anymore, and Ansa wont fit my '88 manual...

What are my options for replacing my crappy, loud and rusted Bursch Glasspack muffler so I can have a less-boomy, quieter driving experience for around $200!?

I don't want a super performance $1200 job, and I don't want a custom stainless system...Suggestions?

Andy

RaF944 has a post on the Pelican Parts bulletin board selling a stock cat back exhaust from his 85.5 944 ( I would think it's the same as 88) He says it's in great shape with 95k miles on it and a new chrome tip still in the box. Check it out if you're interested.

Check Performance Products, I saw one in their catalog for $199.

Thumbs down

Thanks Pete--but they changed the design in '87-88, so an 85 wouldn't fit.

Andy, If you can find out what was changed for '87, it might make a difference. It could be something minor like a different flange where the system mates with the cat, in which case a decent shop could easily modify an available part to make it fit.

Why not have a local shop fab one up... source the muffler yourself and save a few bucks. I had a complete header back system custom built for less than $300 which included a removable mid-section (cat and no-cat).

Good Luck!

I run a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, it performs pretty good and is only a little louder then stock (NOT RICEY), best of all it's good value. I doubt any of the higher priced mufflers can out perform this muffler.
