Post Bad gas Mileage?

I've been noticing much lower than usual miles between fill-ups. I think it could be the tripometer because one time I noticed it was moving, but then it started again. So I don't know if it keeps on acting up or not. Or, could something be causing the car to eat up more gas than normal. What should I check first, two fill ups ago I used a bottle of Chevron. Any ideas?
