89 S2 Value
I cant seem to find my Excellence that covered the 944's this year. Can anyone post the suggested values of an 89 944S2 please?
Also, any input on what you think a good price for a nice S2 is appreciated. It seems these cars are priced all over the place.
Thanks!

From the April, 2002 issue of Excellence:
1989 944S2 values:
Poor: $6,907.00
Good: $7,853.00
Excellent: $10,513.00
Last year, I paid $8k for mine, which was in really great shape. (It still is...) No, it's not for sale!

by the way, yeah the car IS in excellent condition besides the oil eating habit. dont know if its normal on these cars or if the engine bad. i have 152k miles and changed oil every 3k miles. the motor sounds and performs great except the oil eating which really really really pisses me off!
im used to my 1990 bmw 525i with 240k miles and it doesnt eat any oil at all.
again dont know if its normal for these 944s to eat oil. bmws are better car overall. better motors, built more solid, quality, etc. sorry just being honest....
i think comparing bmw to a porsche is similar to build quality of lexis to a hyundae, as far as teh quality of material, built, etc. sorry <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Thanks a lot for the help! I am looking for a coupe as an everyday car. The S2 seems like a great car, I have yet to drive one, and think it will fit the bill as a 'new' everyday car. I'm not looking for a perfect car because I am going to drive it, but one that's well taken care of that I can drive for a couple years.
I saw a very nice S2 at Summit Point this weekend, it was a track car, but it got me thinking about one of these.
Thanks again
Chris

And our cars were developed from an Audi powerplant. (924 2.0 liter Audi engine)
So....I suppose we've come full circle!
Audis...er...Porsches rock!
And Jason: yep, sounds like you're asking for a flame war. hehe... So here's my $0.42:
BMW's are fun cars, and they are engineered very well, but IMO, they lack the personality of Porsches. And, what's with the "lets see how many line and creases we can put on the body of a car" design of late? Anyone see pics of the Z4? And what's up with the trunk of the new 7-series? Is that an afterthought? Even the X5 has some interesting bends and lines on it's side and rear.
In terms of racing, there are currently two new 944-specific racing series: the 944-spec and the 944-cup series. How many racing series are there based on older BMW's? None. hehe...
Regards,
-Z-man.
PS: BTW I wouldn't mind a mid-90's 3-series or M....in my stable.

Jason, I think the Lexus/Hyundai comparison is a little extreme. And a quart of oil between 3000-mile oil changes is not what I'd call excessive. Even when factory-fresh, these cars were designed to use some oil. Check the owner's manual, or the gas filler flap, and you'll see the precautions.

Um, I owned a '85 325 and now I own a '86 951. I don't see the evidence for this statement, even if there were such things as a "lexis" and a "hyundae"
