So you guys are sick of the same old thing...how about telling what you have done over the winter..what you plan on using your car for this season..A little about yourself.
A little about me I am a 944 nut....I work as a fabricator during the day and a porsche machanic at night and weekends,I always have some sort of project going on out in the garage.
Project #1 1983 N/A 944 My first track car..this is the first year that it is already to go.alls I have to do is install the seat, and through on the track tires.
Project #2 1985.5 N/A 944 This one has been in the works for a few years now.I have stripped it down to 550 lbs with the cage in it.I am now in the process of installing fibergass rear quarters from Gt Racing, lexan rear window, fiberglass roof and the piece that goes between the fenders and holds the tail lights.
This car has been the test car for some performance parts that I have made over the years, including front control arms, alt.brackets, short shift kits, solid motor and trans mounts...ect.
The other two projects are for friends, one is just a bone stock 83 944...He seems to get all the good stuff that we take off from all the cars we have kicking around. He was pretty happy untill he put a part on that failed during a track event.I guess that makes me the test dummy again for all the new parts,(sorry Joel).
The last project has been a prety good one,It started as a 86 turbo,I met this guy on the way to a track event down at Lime Rock. This car has gone from stock to insane. It is under 2400lbs and lots of hp.

I'm working on a double-wishbone front suspension for the 944/951. Using an upper arm from a 928 fitted to a modified 951 strut/pindle-clamp.
A carbon-fibre intake manifold/plenum is next. With slide-type throttle-bodies between the runners and the plenum for zero restrictions at full-throttle. Having a hard time sourcing flat needle bearing assemblies though. This is part of a 968 Turbo engine, but that's pretty common nowadays.

changing and oil pan gasket, replacing a tranny, installing a SFR turbo, Huntley chips, beautiful custom intercooler pipes and j pipe from sean951, and 220# Hr lowering springs, had my intake manifold anodised as well as a couple other peices (morissdamper red). I'm thinking about getting my wheels powder coated before everything goes back together?
btw. Lots of De-Greasing as well!

Tearing it apart again...
Last spring/summer I rebuilt my stock 86 951. I decided to go for a little more get up and go so while it was apart I installed a Powerhaus 2.8L Stroker kit, MAF & chips kit, big injectors, Tial dual port wastegate, K29-8 monster turbo and an HKS variable boost controller.
After about 500 easy break in miles I took it to the dyno and pulled a dissapointng 250hp at the rear with 0.7bar boost(did not have the HKS vbc yet). After installing the Boost controller and kicking it up a few notches, my seat of the pants dyno was telling me I had about another 100hp (somewhere around 1 bar)... But I just could not leave that little **** alone.
Another half turn here, another half turn there...well you get the picture. Anyway at about 2k miles after the rebuild I blew the heck out of my wide fire ring head gasket. So this spring/summer I will be tearing it down again to install raceware head studs, replace my bearings AND install an aftermarket boost gauge (I got my gauge pod).

Rebuilding motor myself after I decide which of the two long blocks I have (out of three in the garage)to use...I have to remove one from the car and have a look at it...Already sent a crankshaft off to CMW Racing to have it knife edged...Thanks to Soloracer for his help...When it gets back I'll take to a place locally, (along with the flywheel, pistons, rods, etc) and have the flywheel lightened and everything balanced...I hope, I REALLY hope, the block is within spec allowing me to simply change rings otherwise my little project is going to get very costly in a hurry...I also plan to port and polish the head myself...That along with the K27 I have, the LBE and APE 2 chips should be sufficient...
That's the plan, What can possibly go wrong

Replacing brake pads with metalmasters, putting in gauge pod w/an air-fuel and boost gauge, installing a short throw shifter, bleeding brake fluid with UltraBlue, replacing ps and alt belts, replacing fuel filter, and fabricating a trunk lid to change my hatch to a coupe.

Mine's mostly cosmetic this year. New 968 Electic Mirrors and Door Handles. New 17" C2 wheels with sneekers to be determined. Wrapping the steering wheel with new leather, adding fresh carpet mats, and new skin for the seats.
Just finished putting in new Intake Manifold gaskets. Got a leak in the fuel line I've gotta track down yet. Refreshed the injectors too.
Wish list includes new shocks on all four corners and a stereo with LARGER BUTTONS. Cause I've got BIG HANDS!

By the way, my wife didn't blink an eye when I told her how much I spent on those dang door handles - Love that woman!
Someone tell me why two electric mirrors cost $55 LESS than two stinkin door pulls.

I'm in the middle of an overhaul. It started out as replacing my oilpan gasket and front suspension bushings, but quickly turned into a monster "while I'm in there" kind of project. So far, the big things: replace rod bearings (done that...I'm waiting on a new o-ring for my oil pick up tube, and my oil pick up tube that I took to get moddified 2 weeks ago so I can start bolting my car back together), replace front struts with koni sport hacksaws, front springs with ground control coil overs w/ 400# springs, rear shocks with koni sports, 30mm rear torsion bars, aux water pump, brake pads, stainless brake lines, stainless fuel lines, re-oringed, balanced, cleaned, and plenum capped injectors, oilpan gasket, all suspension bushings, hell of a degreasing job (so far 10 hours including an hour and a half of powerwashing), windage tray, motor mounts, replace all gaskets I have unearthed, powder coat intake manifold, brake calipers, intercooler pipes, and strut housing, install boost and air/fuel gauge in lo-tek gaugepod, re-do all major stock wires (battery to alt, battery to fusepanel, battery to headlights with relays), install cibie e-code lenses with 90/100 watt bulbs (not street legal, but who cares), some stuff that I have forgotten, and today I decided that I would like to put header wrap on my crossover pipe and possibly exhaust manifold. So, yeah...I've been keeping myself busy...hopefully I can get it all done before a week from this friday...I'm at the halfway point right now, waiting on parts so I can start tossing everything back together...I think I will start powdercoating friday as I have too much stuff going on in the next couple of days to do anything to my car.

Well, let's see...
The Ace is long gone.
On the Duce, I've been setting it up for track use. Roll bar, harnesses, race seats, Coil-overs. The engine already has enough go fast goodies to get me in trouble. So I'm about set for the year. That, and it will take that long to get out of debt with the wifie.
On the Trey car, I put it back together with every part that I could from the Ace car, Engine, trans, and everything in between. Started that project about Christmas and finished it a month later. I need to go and get the registration finished, as the temp expires this month. Other than that I have a streetable driver that the wife will ride in. I still have a lot of cleanup work to do on the interior, Swap dashes, misc interior trim and other fixup so it really looks nice.
