lets try that one last time
awhile back me and my girl went to new jersey to prtomotive to see about putting their maf system into my 1986 944 turbo, well they didnt disappoint and i went for testing of their systems and here are some pictures i found in my shoebox i saved from 1995 or 1996, you can see my girls leg in one photo and me next to a 600 hp 911 slantnose turbo, i got more pics of their shop too, working with ferraris and 911's but the 951 here was fast and used the 1st maf upgrade i ever saw or heard of so i drove 500 miles to check it out, way before huntley or sfr or anyone else, later

Does anyone else find it odd that MAF is after the intercooler? i have never seen a 951 with that sort of set up, it is interesting and I would wonder what the merrits are of setting it up that was as opposed to the more tradtional after the air intake.
But thanks for the pics.

Excellent point, I'm curious too.
Definitely nice legs.

that is exactly why i posted this, the maf is the stock airflow meter but put upside down after the intercooler, the turbos airflow pushes the barn door in rather than pulling it open they told me, much easier for the air to push it open thus creating a less forced induction, but easier then a hot wire maf, i dont know, but this was the cutting edge in 1995 it was good for 340 hp to rear wheels wtih chips and exhaust and their fuel setup at 18 psi so they said, i drove it and it seemed like 320 hp to the rear, and it did make that woooosshh sound between shifts too, but this car really handeled awsome it had a rollcage 17 inch ruf 5 star wheels, race seats, and full race suspension

Can we get a phone number to these guys I would like to ask them a few questions, and see if the system is possible to duplicate. I really like the concept of using all the stock the pieces to make this work.

i lost their number but recall it was in prompton plains new jersey called club sport motorworks by protomotive engineering also i ran across this ad in a old tuning mag. is this price of 939.00 the real price of the tec2? its from 1994 by the way..

The compressor bypass is on the custom aluminum pipe between the intercooler output and the stock AFM. Since it's before the air-meter, it probably dumps to the atmosphere, functioning as a blow-off rather than a compressor bypass/reciruclation valve.
Looks like this really isn't an MAF conversion. Just a K&N filter with re-routed piping and using the stock AFM. I'd be interesting to see a dyno chart though.

Probably never designed to have holes drilled in the barn door either.

It is there, turned on its side to the right of the AFM.
[quote] Where is the air filter? Is it crammed into the left fender well?

Yep, I have heard of this, you can get some cold air from over there if you do it right.
I really wish we could get some contact info for these guys, or anyone that knows anything about it. Other wise I might get bored some day and try to fab somethink like this up (anyone want to help?)
