Default 944 Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 123

The Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 radio/cassette in my 1985/1 944 is beyond repair--Walter Odemer can not get it to work (kaput). Does anyone have a working one that is in good shape for sale? I understand there were quite a few installed in the 944s from the factory. Any leads greatly appreciated. Greg Heinrichs

Greg, I have a mint one going off on ebay tonight with original setup cassette and manual (plyhammer101) I also have one that I just pulled and is working but only reads the last 1/2 of the display. for example 97.5 would read .5 on it.

Thanks forthe response. Don't see ebay one. What kind of shape is the other one in, is it easy to repair display? How many dollars might you be looking for?

Not sure on how hard it is to fix display? I'd shoot for $50 for that one. the super one from ebay sold.

Cassette doesn't work I believe. The radio does work it self. Some of the preset buttons don't work. Two of them still do. But it tunes stations and sound comes out of all speakers. You would most likely be able to have the cassette mechanism fixed.

Until i can locate a working Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 123, does any one know what radio(s) with a cassette would plug in to my 944 as a replacement? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A Charleston drops right in and does the same as the Monterey. Here's link:

Thanks, very interesting info. But finding a servicable Charleston may be as difficult as a Monterey sqr 23. Wondering if anyone knows of other brands that may(with adapters) work.

Reno looks like it will plug in. I'm interested if it has a cassette built in and It works. Fader you refer to is front to rear as in Monterey? What is the price? Thanks for response.

I have to ask, why do you want a cassette player? Is this a concours resto?
