You'll be fine going a short distance if you can get the wheels
straight by eye, I've done it lots of times to get to the shop
5 minutes from my place. Just take it easy Tim, keep the speeds
as low as possible.

ok thanks. I may need to drive it short distances (5 min drives) for the next couple days until I get an appointment for an allignment.
I just went by eye, didn't have a long enough tape measure to measure it out.
also my tie rod ends don't have cotter pins in them right now because the tie rod end nuts that came with my new tie rods (deutsche parts from ebay) are way too tall and when I torque them down you can't even see stud of the tie rod end where the cotter pin is suppose to go through. I also can't use my old ones as they were the one time use locking nuts...... so I have to go to the dealer I assume to pick two tie rod end nuts.
right now I got the tall tie rod end nuts on so I can't put cotter pins in. would it be safe to just drive it for a short distance for a day until I get the cotter pins? I doubt they nuts will just back out that quick. at first I thought my tie rod ends had not gone in all the way but i'm certain they have.
anyways thanks for the help I will take it for a short test drive tomorrow and then allignment will get done sometime this week.

I would limit it to 1 drive to the alignment place, why tempt fate?
Not sure about running without cotter pins, that's a new one. My
gut says no, but someone else may have experienced the same issue.
