I have 350 front/225 with tbars rear. Doesn't feel that stiff to me on the street - it's only when you drive on broken country roads where it gets uncomfortable. A BMW Z4 (at least in Oz spec) feels stiffer on local streets (especially with those run flats).

As an addendum to all this. We've just installed 800lb fronts and 900lb rears in my car last night. Totally fine over anything but really obvious potholes and ruts. General street driving is fine. It can be done provided you don't have ancient hardware.

For what its worth, I’m really happy with my car on the street and track at 225/180lbs springs with stock NA torsion bars and 28/18 sways. I’m running 12” front springs at stock height. I wouldn’t run much more than that unless it was a track only car with lots of negative camber dialed-in to makeup for the loss of camber gain. With springs that heavy I think you may struggle to get good weight transfer while driving on the street.
FYI - I used to run a harder setting but I really started to hate driving it on the street.
You'll hear a lot opinions on this board - just be honest about what you want to do with your car...

To give a reference, Bilstein PSS9 coilovers are arround 400lb. And they are really comfortable.

I agree with the modern shock theory.

1 week to go...........

30 mm t-bars come to a 330 lbs-in rear spring rate. I perfer just chaning the t-bars if going to a moderate spring rate. You need rear coil helper if you want over 500-600lbs or so.

If you have to re-index the t-bars will coil overs just change the t-bars. Not fancy pre-stress to fgure in. You get less adjustabiliy, but t-bars work quite well.

944 spec cars work well on 30 mm t-bars and 350-400 lbs front springs. This on 2600lbs cars and exact spring rate is dependant on feel. The cars are street able, but since we have stripped out interior not street cars by any means.

When you say PSS9s are 400lb on what car with what application? GT3? I thought the PSS9 was just one of their models and would therefore be available in a range of spring options?

What's happening in a week?

Couldnt find info for Porsche, so something "similar" was the M3 E46. RWD and near 50/50 wheight distribution. PSS9 in stock for come to 450lb, of course the can be changed. Its just a reference, as I have tried that suspension and is comfortable on the open road.

1 week till I get my suspension

FYI

I have had 400lbs front and 400lbs rear (with re-indexed t-bars 23.5mm) with 968 M030 Sways front and rear for a combo for years and it's not too harsh for the street in my opinion.

Code:
Cup Cars are 1300+, what about GT3RS?
Yup! it depends on the shocks and track they're at but since Mid-Ohio this year one of the GT-C teams from ALMS that my co-worker works for has been bringing their 997 Cup Car to our shop after each race for the usual post/pre race routine and they were telling me they ran anywhere from 600-1400 lbs with a 200 lb split towards rear.

Keeping the thread alive.......

I mounted the suspension, but not done the geometry yet, just by "eye-meter". Lets say it is stiff, but not unconfortable.

The problem I have now are the tires. With 16" rims they have too much profile, it flexes befote the spring even moves and the car is bouncy as hell. So Ill have to move to 17" or 18" wheels to remove that problem.

The fit is great, no problem at all. The rear come with a spacer bushing so no problem of it rubbing on the chasis. And the shock regulation is so easy to do, really a nice feature. The rear can be reached no problem, and the front by turning the steering.

I will say my next move will be remove the T-bar an fit stiffer springs. On speedbums the spring comes loose and make a disturbing noise. Plus the ride hide is a PITA to set, the T-bar + spring is to complicated for me.

Pics .....

This is how they came out, left the rear at stock height. The front was too low, the pic is about 2cms lower than the actual.

What has really changed is the speed of the cars reaction to the steering. It is so fast to change direction now, like a go kart. With the old suspension, wheight transfer was very noticeable.

The rear photo doesn't have a top spring hat installed.. Is that just a timing issue or is that how it was really installed??

Hey guys, I have #500 fronts on my S2. What is the rate of the rear torsionbar? I have 150's in the back now and it's too soft for my taste. I was wanting to up it to 250-300, which makes sense?
