Talking Captain toolbox, need info

Hello Tabor,

I noticed you do the 914 board abit. I posted this over there but it's not frequented as much as here. I want a new project and I'm considering a Teener. I'd like to buy one from the j-yard without an engine and I was wondering if I can bolt up my V-dub (typeI) engine. I'm also wondering if a 914 drivetrain can handle ~200+hp. BTW how's the 3ltr going? Later,

Oh, I guess I wasn't patient enough over at the 914 board.

Yep. It looks like you got a response. Make sure you add the chassie stiffening kit if you put a 200+HP engine in.

The 3L is coming slowly. I am waiting for an e-mail from Garrity.

Me too! If you hear from him, have him e-mail me, and I will do the same.

Tabor -

Just got off the phone with Garrity. The dudes that make the pistons for him are on vacation next week, and are working now on filling an order for NASCAR. We (not Garrity's fault) have been put on the back burner. Garrity has no idea when they will make them, or ship them if they got them done (he ordered 10 sets). He has not been able to contact the supplier as of this week.

Last he spoke with them, they were planning on shipping this week. We will have to wait and see.

My option is to go to the dealer and hand them $2200 for the pistons only.... I will wait. You have no choice since you are out of the range of the OEM paperweights.

Just an FYI.
