Post opinions on tires

k so the s2 needs new rubber. i'm considering 225/45/17 for the front and 255/40/17 for the rear. i need a tire that performs well but can be driven in some rain. i have hear some good things about the falken azenis st-115 tires. these are not the ultra high performance regular azenis but the one off ones that have good wet traction and are supposedly very quiet (which i don't really care about). they're $107 each for the fronts and $123 each for the rears.

does it make sense to go with larger front tires? i could get 235 or 245 but i was concerned about rubbing against the fender.

also i'm really open to about any tire so if you know something that works really well then pass along the advice

I've heard that the new Bridgestone SO3 is fantastic in the dry and still very capable in the wet. Check out tirerack.com......they have low prices and user opinions and ratings on every tire

Very capable in the wet is an understatement...I can drop the S2 down into 2nd gear, drop the hammer and fly into a corner in soaking wet roads and not even the slightest chirp from the tires. That's right I haven't been able to MAKE the car lose traction in the wet. Not that I try THAT hard but if I'm messing around and it still grips like hell then in normal driving they shouldn't have any problems. I dunno how much of it is the car and how much is the tires, but if I tried that with the Dunlops I used to have, it wouldn't go as well. We seem to get a lot of rain in FL during the summer and you don't have to change your driving style one bit with these S03's...expensive but extraordinary tires! Can run right into like 2" deep puddles at 70 mph and it doesn't hydroplane a bit.

Something like a 9.4 traction rating in the dry and 9.2 in the wet..I haven't seen one better yet.

I just went through this myself and ended up with dunlop sp8000's. I think they're decent but compared to the yokohama race tires I had on previously they feel like riding on marshmellows.
