Default E brake light is out?

my E Brake light is not on any more? when I start the car the Red Light with the "!" is on until the car starts then then goes out, the light use to be on when the E Brake was on?
Where do I start to look for this? I figure it has to be the switch near the E brake handle?

I changed my bulbs in my instrument cluster last year and that light re-appeared.

But the location of where the brake handle button is located is prone to dirt and stuff falling out of your pockets. I find coin all stuck in that area under the handle all the time.

Would start with cleaning the button and if that doesn't do it time to pull the cluster and that takes a gentle hand and patience. Clarks-Garage has a step-by-step.

Are you talking about the chimer when you leave keys in etc? I removed mine (it's a relay) but left my keys in my car too many times, so now I just duct taped the top of the relay (to cover the speaker) and it is barely audible, just how I like it. Or you can just remove the key and put it back in and you won't hear it anymore.
