Eric, thanks for the kind words. The blue has grown on me very well in just a few days.

Rothmans, you can see this 85.5 944 at www.trader.ca It is listed under porsche section "924" not (944). At least it was, I pointed it out to him so he might have phoned the Trader folks. The price was $6500 or best (har har).

It is real rough. I arrived early and the owner (risen from the dead I assume) Dennis (about 50) was underneath with a mini sledge. When they saw me, he and his son quickly tried to close the hood. Tools all over. He offered no explanation.

The family played dumb on the phone the night before, but be advised they are totally disingenuous. I don't want to offend anyone, but this guy could easily pass as a true "wiseguy". Lower eastside of Hamilton if you get my drift.

The car has been painted "MTO" burnt yellow. Engine is oversprayed. Body damage lower drivers wheel, cracked windshield, rust under yellow paint bubbles on drivers lower side. Didn't even bother to look at passenger side. Didn't even ask for them to start it. He claims he knows nothing about it. Didn't know it had a timing belt, etc, but it had large oversized tires on both front and rear so somebody knew something.

That previous night the lady of the house claimed no rust, nothing wrong!!! When asked who owned it before, Dennis could only state "the people". That's all he would say even after some pointed questioning. "the people"!!!

I told him it was a POS and he stated that he was sorry I had made the 2.5 hour drive. If you see him, tell him that because of his attempt at bullsh*ting me, I fluked at cold call at Mantis and ended up with a great deal.

Who knows, maybe this yellow 944 is got something of value. I can tell you nobody will buy this so offer him half. Must be worth that much if it runs. He claims a new clutch but no receipt, naturally!

Talking

That's pretty funny, because I saw it in the ads. I laughed because I thought there's another lemon yellow 944 in the world
(although it was listed as a 924 as you mentioned)

Wink

Keith it was nice meeting you.
My car search went really bad today. At least you got to pick up a real sweet car... it sure sounded nice when it was idling out front of Mantis.
Make sure you join the Porsche Club and see you out at a few events.....

Ken, yes it was great meeting you to. What a fluke! So many flukes I'm having lately.

What, did the ice green 944 turn out to be a puker?

If I seemed a little disjointed it was because Ernie and I had trouble with the Ministry about getting me a "trip permit" and I had just driven 2.5 hours and then 3 times back and forth from Mantis to the Ministry arguing with 3 license issuing chicks so my mind was near dead.

The car was fantastic on the trip home. Just mint. Ernie got me Hankook 225/50/15 for the rear and 205/55/15 for the front and (besides vastly improving the appearance) the turning was killer. That Ernie is one decent guy. He charged me $400 CDN or about $250 US. They were balanced perfectly for I took the car up to 160kph and not a ripple. I would have tried for more, but I had the wife in the Volvo trying to keep up, the OPP are out this week up north doing one of their "zero tolerance" things and I was really worried about deer. My insurance company wouldn't give me comprehensive without an apprasal (which Ernie did today) so I had no damage coverage.

I'll get on the Porsche memebership thing and I guess I should also support this board by joining whatever I join.

Keith
