Testing for LSD Transmission
I did a search on testing whether a car has an LSD and found out that put the car in neutral and jack up the rear. Spin one wheel and if the other wheel spins the same direction the transmission should have an LSD. However when I put it gear and spin one wheel - the other wheel spins in the opposite direction. Does this have any bearing?
I will drop the tranny sometime over the weekend so I'll check for the stamp but I'm hoping I've got an LSD parts car.

NOOOOO!
That is correct. If you put it in gear, it will spin in the opposite direction. The test must be done in NEUTRAL. If they spin in the same direction in neutral, then you have an LSD.

SCORE!...Good engine (good compression #s) and now a good LSD tranny.
Did both '87 or '88 924S both have the short 5th gear or only the '88 models? Also does the '87 924S have the high compression engine (they did make changes mid year)?

88 924S = Short 5ht and 10.2:1 (high compression) pistons
Would you happen to have a spare 87 or 88 924S DME harness by chance?

Riddle me this. I have the rear end of the car up on jackstands right now.
To test if I have a LSD or not:
1. Put car in Neutral
2. Spin one wheel
3. If the other tire spins in the same direction then that means it has a LSD. If they spin opposite ways then you don't have a LSD.
While I'm in neutral and I spin one tire the other wheel doesn't spin. But when I put it in gear they spin opposite ways.
I would like to add that I tried something else. I jacked up just one wheel off the ground. So one rear wheel was on the ground and the other was in the air. In neutral I could spin the tire that was in the air no problem, but as soon as I put it in gear the wheel was not able to be turned like it would need both wheels to spin almost. So I think I may actually have a LSD.
What does that mean?

Mate mine does the exact same thing as yours.
And I can't work it out either.
Does anyone know if you can view the part# on the diff at all without taking it out?
