Default Think my caliper seized, what should I replace

I was driving today and I hear a horrible screeching sound from my front wheel and I think its a busted bearing so I tow my car home.

I just took the wheel off and the wheel is hard to turn and looks like the pads are appying pressure to the rotor.

I tightened my wheel bearing last week cus I there was some play in the wheel but I think the screeching is a seized caliper.

if I replace teh caliper can I replace just one side or do you have to replace both sides and what else to I need like do I need a new seal for teh break line and do I have to bleed teh whole system afterwords or just teh one side.

thanks.

Are you sure you did not over tighten the bearing? You could have a seized bearing.

I don't think my bearing is seized as it spins freely with no sound when I remove the caliper and pads.

could it possibly be seized under load?

I think I did overtighten it a bit because you are only suppose to make it tight enough so you can still move that washer but i made it tighter so you can move the washer but only if you use leverage off side of teh spindle.

this is because when I made it tight so you an move the washer there is a lot of play in the wheel.

anyways i'm pretty sure the screeching sound was from the caliper seizing.

when I took the wheel off teh pads where pressing hard on the rotor. I could still move the rotor but not very freely.

Those calipers rust easily so check if metal parts move freely when pads are out. I do not mean the piston but caliper parts. NA 944 has "sliding" calipers.
