Damaged bellhousing cause??
I am looking at an 84 944 that the owner pulled the trans out and found the bellhousing broken with a large chunk missing out of it. I have not seen anybody discuusing this on here, what may have caused it? If I buy the car will I need to replace the whole torque tube, or does that unbolt? Thank you

I am guessing the owner tried to man handle the TT and trans out and missed a bolt and SNAP broken housing. Easy to fix but buying a basket case car with unexplained / unusual damage is a risky purchase.
I would not pay over $500 for the car if the rest of it is in nice shape.

Bell housing unbolts for the TT I would inspect every piece closely something caused the problem.
Like i said unless the price was really right and i was willing to throw $500 to $1000, doing the work yourself, at it to get it back on the road i would run like the wind.

Is that the trans side? That is where the damage is. It is still in the car, so I don't think they dropped it.
944V8inDFW, the price will have to be right to buy it
