no running lights d/s
ok so im still new to the family i have been working on my 83 944 na auto for about 3 months on and off i bought it with white smoke and over heating problems. i have finished installing headgasket water pump and about to do belts. it is now taking me to and from work with no problem..i just noticed that i dont have neither of the two front side markers and running lights on the drivers side arent working. headlights foglights turn signals and brake lights work. i have read around the topics using search and have replaced fuses that deal with the lights and nothing..pass side sidemarker in the front and driver side turn signal running light was working when i got it.

i would assume there is power the turn signal works...i will be testing for power in the wires in a few. running lights on the passenger side are working minus the front sidemarker which was working till i took out the bulb now it doesnt want to turn on anymore with new bulb in.

On my first '83 the lights would do this from time to time. It include all the interior dash lights also. It was not permanent because every now and then they would work for weeks at a time. You can look up a previous thread concerning this here on Rennlist. From what I recall it has to do with a connection at the back of the fuse box. Green copper corrosion-type stuff! Do your interior dash lights work?

Yep. I had this on my 83. The drivers side running lights would go out the most but also the tail lights and dash lights. For awhile it only was not working about 10% of the time. Eventually it would only work for 10% of the time. Because it's nearly always daylight here in the summer I let it go for several years.
Anyway. To find the bad connector pin connection I had to pull the multi pin connectors off the back of the fuse box. There's not much room to work under there. It was about the third connector in but you have to start with the one on the end (towards passenger side) to get to the next one and the next one. It was fairly obvious to see when I eventually got to it. Lots of cramping and cussing involved. . . .
