Post 951 Rough mid-RPM Range

Just picked up my first 951 and loving it.... One question for the other gearheads in here?

The engine is super smooth from idle to 2500 RPM and from about 3200 to the line, but if I hold the throttle anywhere between about 2500 and 3200 revs, the engine seems rough.

I dug through the archives and there were a couple threads on similar problems. It was suggested that maybe it was the TPS, but no conclusion was posted. Did the TPS solve this problem for anyone? Thanks.

That's the sweet spot that the balance shaft belt rears its ugly head. It may be a tooth or two off.

Mine does the samething and I have verified balance shaft timing. I dont notice it when driving, just if I'm stopped and rev it.

Thanks for the replys, I'll check the timing of the balance shaft... I do notice it only when stopped and revin' it. The only time I notice it when driving is when the engine is cold.

Also, the throttle is really touchy if you're in stop and go traffic. You gradually let off the gas and the car sometimes jerks and just about gives you whiplash. That combined with the prior posts made me think it might be the TPS.
