As some of you know, I have a 1986 944 NA that according to my documentation was converted into a convertable in 1987 by a conversion company in Toronto. I think I am the 6th owner of the car.
I have posted pics of the car with the top up and down, and I have had requests for information about how the top works, as it appears to be totally custom. The first section (not shown) is a large roof piece that that has 2 latches and 4 pins that lock it into the windshield frame and the rear roof frame. It is made of the same material as the rest of the fabric top, though it is insulated and has a velvety type fabric as a headliner.

The roof drops down into the trunk area, the truck lid is made from fibreglass, and the seats can still fold down. In the picture, the top is tucked down, and a fitted cover makes it all look neat and tidy. The back seat is still useable with the top up or down. The targa roof fits in the trunk easily. I can cruise around with the targa roof off or the whole top down. It is even nice on the highway in either configuration.

Here is the best shot I could find with the roof up (I hardly ever put it up if I can help it) It is an older shot from the springtime with my old cup wheels that I have since removed and put on these ROH wheels. I had the car out this weekend and found a nice spot to take some pics of the car. I haven't had any nice photos of the car as mine are all from the late winter/springtime. It was a lot of fun to take the pics!
