Post Rear wiper is posessed

While driving yesyerday, my rear wiper made a 90 degree swipe to the bottom of the rear deck and stopped. All on its own, and now, it likes its new position so much, it will not return back to its home position. Any clues?? I've tried talking to it!!

Predator,

You are being haunted by the soul of the original engine!

But seriously:

On my '85 944, it was a short with the wire coming from the wiper control into the wiring harness...mine used to come on by itself, and scare the passengers.

I finally had to replace the wiring harness, under the dash, when things kind of caught on fire, and smoked a little. No, no scorch marks, just a *puft!* But after $500, that fixed it.
