This is what my first 924 looked like as it was delivered to us. It had the Porsche lettering on the side.

By the mid 80's, my wife was autocrossing this 1979 924 Sebring Edition. It had headers, a cam, lowered, big sway bars, Koni adjustable shocks, etc. She usually won the ladies class and put many men on the trailer with this car.

During this same time, I was autocrossing this 1984 944 with headers, Borla exhaust, lowered, big sway bars, Koni adjustable shocks, etc. It was a great autocross car. My wife and I did do one track event in it together at Grattan in Michigan. We each won our class and the trophies were handed out by the president of Porsche at that time, Peter Schutz. His daughter married one of our friends from Grand Rapids and Peter happened to be visiting. It was a very cold October day and I recall he mentioned he had to go to Wal-Mart to buy a coat!! The evening before, he spoke at our banquet and later we all gathered around in the lounge and talked with him for quite awhile over drinks.

My wife and I tracked this 1983 944 for five years and I did two PCA club races in it as well. We ran this car from 1989-94. I pulled this trailer all over including from Indiana to Road Atlanta. My son and I did the suspension on this car and it worked so well out of the box that I never adjusted it. It had stock brakes. The car had 89,000 miles when I bought it so we put new pads and rotors on before the first event. My son owned this car for another three years after we did and it still had those same rotors on it. As my wife is fond of saying, "Brakes only slow you down!!" We used them sparingly as it was a momentum car. I passed many 911's with this car as it was so easy to drive on the limit through the corners. Besides scanning my slides, I have also been converting my videotapes to DVD's. I have some really good footage from Mid-Ohio and Grattan with this car.

As it was pointed out at 928 forum, those blocks are not for 928.

Thanks for sharing your photos, I'll be it was a quite trip down memory lane.

I went to Junior High and High School in Munich (MAHS) so some of the places looked familiar (visited Dachau, too). I fell in love with Porsche's growing up over there!

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I spent 26 months in Germany while I was in the Army. I arrived in June of '65, soon after the first 911's were introduced. My first drive after getting my Army drivers license was taking my sergeant to Wiesbaden in a Ford Econoline van. Traffic was very heavy on the Autobahn around Frankfurt with both lanes full. Directly ahead of me in the passing lane was a 911 directly behind a C2 Corvette. The 911 was juking right and left and wanted to get around that Vette in the worst way. At one point, the Vette had moved over to the left side of the lane and the car in the other lane had moved over to the right. The 911 seized the opportunity and passed them both down the middle!! That was my introduction to German driving!!! I have been a fan of German cars ever since.

I hauled my toolbox, a jack, jack stands, track tires and wheels, some spare parts, lawn chairs, sometimes bicycles, cleaning supplies, etc. Everything I thought I would need at the track. It also made a great place to change into my driving suit.

I always liked that look of those wheels on my track car. My track wheels were BBS's of the same style and size.

Yes it was at the mall in the parking lot around the Belk store. Asheville was our first Porsche Parade and was the best. The site of the concours at the Biltmore was spectacular.
