What about maybe the temp switch (not the one for the gauage but the one for the DME). I think its called temp2 or something like that, sites reight behind the head coolant filler neck. Easy to check with a meter but I don't remember the values. Just a thought... bruce

So I would take a resistance reading off this sensor? Should be easy to do a reading off both cars and compare. Will get the VOM out this weekend and started checking stuff...

Well, I'm with the AFM/AFM wiring crowd on this one. I had a similar but much less severe problem like this - the car would start to run rough as the rpms went up. The fix was cleaning up the connector to the AFM.

You've probably already checked but the wiring to the speed and ref sensors is suspect. May even be worth double checking the settings on the sensors if you haven't already done so.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I am chasing a similar problem, although for me, the problem is only there for a short time after start up. Once the engine begins to get warm, it goes away. Just curious if you found out any more about it.
