The S has a wider belt?????
Oh oh - I have about 10,000 klms on a new belt. I don't remember it being any wider than the one that came off it, but I didn't specify that I needed an "S" belt.
Before I bought the car, the belts were done at Porsche, so they must have used the correct belt and the one I put on was the same size - hope I got lucky!!!
My belt did the same thing - shredded teeth. I think mine did this simply due to it being too loose. When I first got the car, it would make a "roller/squeak" sound when first started, then it would go away after it warmed up. The belt was either loose or a roller was bad.
I'm due for a retensioning in 5000 klms, I'll check the belt then to see if it's too small.
What would an non-S belt sound like on an S? Would it be any different? The non-S belt would most likely just snap over time, no?
