Question Are the PD's anodized?

I've been reading several posts on polishing fuchs. I would like to know if the phone dials are anodized like the fuchs. I am looking into polishing mine as an alternative to buying new rims and tires.

I don't believe they are. I have heard they are painted with the factory Wurth paint.

The Phone-Dial wheels are painted with paint clear-coat, as suggested. I have seen anodized phone-dials, and Fuchs, and Kinesis at the track. I know of one P-car guy that has several different wheels for the track, and he anodizes all his wheels, in different colors. If you anodize, you have to strip the surface to bare-metal and make sure the surface is wiped clean of all oils with a good solvent before surfaced.

Others have stripped and polished their phone dials (lots of historical posts about this). Again, you have to strip the wheels to bare-metal, clean with solvent, and go from there. Some folks have even polished the phone-dials and then clear-coated them. An interesting concept.

John, As someone who has polished a set of PD's, yes they are anodized. I wish it were that easy! That is just to strip the paint and polish . If you tackle this job you will see what I mean <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> . If you want to get an origional "look" then yes the Wurth paint and clearcoat looks great! HTH have fun!
