Post shift emblem removal

I have a new shift boot and ****, but it says to reuse the old emblem... how do you go about taking the old emblem off? There doesn't seem to be any pry holes ore anything obvious. Please help.

When I replaced my boot, I pulled on it with my thumb nail going around it and I eventually worked it off. I would have used a flat head screw driver, but I didn't want to mar it.

Some people pull the leather off the shifter, and the cap comes off with the leather. I used a soft plastic spatula from the kitchen (don't tell my wife), slightly softer than the badge plastic, and it came right off ;-)
